Project Overview

Multiturf supplied and installed 12,000m² of football turf for the Sunderland Football Academy in Tanzania. The project covered a full-size football pitch, a five-a-side pitch and a fenced multi-sport pitch.

An academy trains every day, so the pitches needed a surface that holds up under constant use and plays the same in the wet season as in the dry season. Artificial turf gives the academy that, with no reseeding or closures while grass recovers.

What Was Installed

The full-size pitch and the smaller pitches were laid with football turf and fully line-marked. The five-a-side and multi pitches are fenced with goals at each end, so they can run small-sided games and drills next to the main pitch.

It is one of Multiturf’s largest projects outside South Africa.
